In community-focused efforts, the Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity has accomplished the significant feat of constructing two new homes for families in Williamsport. This initiative is part of a larger effort to address rising affordable housing demands. Having placed fifty families in homes since its inception in 1989, these new constructions are expected to enhance living conditions, especially as rental prices continue to climb. Plans are already underway for two additional homes in Williamsport, along with another project in South Williamsport.
Lastly, the Pennsylvania General Energy has received approval from the Department of Environmental Protection for a natural gas pipeline project located in northwestern Lycoming County. Despite some community concerns regarding its potential environmental impact on local ecosystems, including wild trout streams and wetlands, the project moves forward.
